A pin is a device consisting of two parts, a metal or plastic connector called a hub and a stainless steel tube part attached to the corner. The stainless steel tube part can be sharp or blunt.
What are animal feeding needles/enema needles?
Animal feeding needles (AFN), or commonly referred to as gavage needles, refer to needles with the needle's tip attached to the ball. These needles are used to introduce food directly into the animal's stomach. The ball is designed to prevent accidental rupture of the esophagus. Messino's can produce both reusable and disposable best deal national treatment needles.
What is the minimum order quantity for custom needles, and what is the typical delivery time?
Our minimum order quantity is one dozen (12 sheets per dozen) regarding many custom needles. The typical delivery time for custom needles is 4-6 weeks. We also offer an emergency service that reduces the delivery time to 2-3 weeks. Custom needles requiring unique materials (non-stock tubes) take eight weeks or more. The maximum quantity may also increase due to the tube manufacturer's requirements.
Can needles be coated to improve durability and corrosion resistance?
We offer a variety of coating options. PTFE coatings add lubricity and isolate tubing and corrosive materials; for xylene coatings, all of the above layers include electrical insulation, and ceramic coatings (our PSX coating series) are similar to the above coatings. Still, the durability of the coatings is substantially improved.
What is a coreless needle? Is a coreless needle a needle that penetrates the diaphragm, or is it a Huber-type needle?
Coreless needles are sharp needles with a "sandblasted" back end to reduce crystallization. Coreless septum piercing needles are characterized by an offset tip (the tip is above the centerline, reducing contact with the tissue or media).
Maysino offers special needles for similar applications. These are called deflection points or deflected needle tips.
What is a stylus/obturator?
Needles and obturators are solid bars with metal hubs that are ground and "mounted" to match the needle's level (called a mating). The needle is introduced together with the pin to prevent cutting off the "core" and "tissue blockage." The angle is also commonly used to "clean" or remove possible dirt or clogs from the needle.
What is an angle?
An angle is the sloping surface formed on the tube when ground into the needle tip. A typical medical needle tip consists of three levels. The primary angle is the surface formed after polishing the tube at a specific angle. The two side bevels are secondary polished on either side of the primary angle to create a sharp needle tip and cutting edge. For short bevel pins, the secondary bevels are polished at the bottom of the flat angle - these are called the back slopes. The slope length is the longest distance of the angle, measured from the needle's tip to the closest grinding area of the heel. The side slope length is measured between (1) the junction of the side slope and the outer surface of the tube and (2) the tip of the needle. From the needle's tip to the beginning of the slope (heel of the slope), measured with a line parallel to the insertion axis. a-slope = 12 degree point, b-slope = 18 degree point, c-slope = 30 degree point.
How is the length of the needle defined?
The length of the needle is the exposed portion of the cannula measured from the junction with the hub to the point's tip. The needle's total length is the distance from the needle's direction to the end of the seat.
What is GG-N-196?
April 10, 1947, Federal Specification Amendment-5 for needles, hypodermic syringes, and Luer syringes. Provides all the details for needles and syringes.
What is the difference between a French size and a gauge?
French size is a measurement unit (similar to a rule of measurement) and is primarily used for catheters. 1 French size is equal to 0.01312" in diameter. Therefore, a #5 French catheter is .066" in diameter.
Can Mecino needles be autoclaved?
All standard Mecino Scientific needles can be autoclaved. It is important to note that proper cleaning of the needle before sterilization is essential to maintain the quality of the needle's appearance and prevent discoloration or other consequences. However, the metal may become discolored after multiple sterilizations.
What are forgeable/annealed needles?
Forged/annealed needles are characterized by a "soft" tube that allows for some manipulation/bending of the needle bar. This process is accomplished by "annealing" the pipe before attaching the hub. All Maysino Scientific needles are made of 304 stainless steel fully hardened tubing. Annealed/forgeable needles can be customized to meet customer requirements.
Is Maysino ISO certified?
Maysino is ISO13485 certified. Please refer to our catalog, or call our customer service for more information.
What is a fine gauge needle?
Fine gauge needles are made of excellent stainless steel tubing. Maysino Science offers a range of fine gauge needles from 30G-33G needles. These needles are used for useful laboratory applications and dermatology (sclerotherapy). 32G-33G needles are shipped with a set line to ensure that the needle does not clog.
Do you sell needles to individuals?
As an FDA-registered company, Maysino only sells to specialists in the medical industry, such as doctors, hospitals, or licensed distributors. Our needles are not used by people but are sold to specialists or distributors in research and laboratories.
